Sometimes, it’s easy to dwell on the things that we feel have gone wrong too often in our lives.
I find if I am having a bad day, I particularly dwell on what I can’t do and what’s better in other peoples lives.
It’s easy isn’t to let these thoughts, become a spiral of depression and drag us down and lead us to forget to be thankful.
I have been finding it helpful the last few weeks, asking God to take captive of these ‘dwelling and manipulative thoughts’
sometimes I don’t even realise I am doing it, and realise a morning or a day has passed by and I have wasted a day that I can’t take back thinking these things.
I have noticed over the past couple of weeks, the more I am thankful, the better I feel. In this materialistic world, we can just want more and more, instead of being thankful for what we have and where we are and what God has done.
I thank God for my husband, my daughter, my family and friends/people in life that make life enjoyable and happy, it’s simple things that we can be thankful for that will give us a good start to our day or a peaceful nights sleep.
What are you thankful for, take five things today and thank God for them. It will bless him and bless you.
If you are feeling down and dragged down by negative thoughts, ask God to take them away and hold them captive, He will answer your prayer but it will take a good two or three weeks for you to get into the habit.
Here is a verse I came across today that can help us in these circumstances.
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
